Carrying Capacity of Pasturelands and the Growth of Goat Herds

Traditional Mongolian pastoralism is rooted in a philosophy of living in harmony with nature. However, as goat populations increase excessively, pressure on pasturelands intensifies, vegetation cover deteriorates, and the soil becomes increasingly vulnerable to wind and sand erosion. Maintaining a balanced livestock composition and implementing sustainable pasture management are essential to mitigating desertification and preserving both Mongolia’s nomadic culture and the ecological balance of its natural environment.
