Saxaul Forests and Human Life

Mongolian herders in the Gobi have long recognized the value of saxaul and used it for fuel and various household purposes. However, saxaul forests have declined in many areas due to excessive cutting and overgrazing. Therefore, protecting and restoring saxaul forests has become an important priority in Gobi conservation efforts.
